The historic Harbor House Inn rests on the edge of the rustic Pacific Coast in Mendocino. The Inn was first built in 1916 by American Architect Louis Christian Mullgardt, and recently remodeled by Roff Barnett, to showcase the beauty of the redwoods. It has since evolved and stands as both a timeless sanctuary and culinary destination. The Inn is surrounded by the majestic old growth redwood forest, and the dramatic coastline of California. Following a recent remodel, the property features classic and antique furnishings, fireplaces, decks, and pathways to magnificent gardens with vistas that lead to a private beach. Guests can relax in our stately sitting room and take in the breathtaking ocean views from our dining room. Miles of pristine beaches, cliffs, and rocky shorelines invite guests to embody the spontaneous pace of nature while savoring the wild beauty that is the North Coast of California.

Our restaurant offers a 25-seat dining room that sits above the Pacific coastline. Seasonality and weather shape our menus as we rely primarily on what is produced in our immediate surroundings. The North Coast terrain promotes flavors unique to our location, supported by a product-driven style of cooking. We focus on natural sources of heat through steam and fire to highlight the true taste in our ingredients. By minimizing imports, cultivating as much food from our own land and tidepools as possible, we offer a hyper-local experience that is constantly evolving.
The Harbor House Inn wine cellar includes hand crafted, local, sustainable, small production wines. Our collection primarily focuses on Northern California, with an available selection of old world wines.
Our Dining Room is open from Thursday-Monday, from 6:00 - 9:00pm, and will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Reservations can be made directly through Resy. Breakfast is included for all guests staying at the Inn.
Our unique amenities include a wide array of offerings for the adventure and leisure seekers alike. For those wishing to explore the great outdoors, our team can help coordinate guided tours, hikes and adventures. Whether that be seeking out guided mushroom foraging expeditions, or navigating hikes through the hundreds of acres of neighboring national forests, our team can plan a personalized expedition to your liking. For our guests who wish to relax and rejuvenate, we offer on-site massage therapy and wine tasting on our back terrace. Each experience is curated to give our visitors a sense of harmony and connection with nature:

As executive chef and property manager for Harbor House Inn, a century-old inn and
restaurant on California’s Mendocino Coast in Elk, CA, Aisha Ibrahim oversees the
property’s operations while executing an elevated, seasonal food and beverage program
that showcases ingredients found among the area’s forests and coasts. “Our approach puts
forth an evolving menu that reflects and respects the landscape of this region”, she
says. With experience in a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants around the world,
Ibrahim unites fine dining tenets with the ingredients of the lush region.
From the lobby, to the rooms, to the spa and the restaurant,
Ibrahim is committed to serving her guests with sincerity and a more thoughtful approach to
service. “Throughout my extensive travels, I’ve discovered that warm, genuine, and
thoughtful service lies at the core of every impactful experience.”
Born in Iligan City, Philippines Ibrahim immigrated to the United States with her
family in 1991, settling in West Virginia. Although her parents shared and fostered a love of
cooking with Ibrahim, she focused on basketball, going on to play Division 1 for Elon
University in North Carolina. When a knee injury took her off the court, she rediscovered
her love of cuisine through cookbooks and decided to make a change, relocating to San
Francisco to attend the California Culinary Academy and earn a Le Cordon Bleu associates
degree in culinary arts in 2008. She quickly discovered countless parallels between the
kitchen and the basketball court in regards to teamwork and discipline.
Her career began in San Francisco with an externship at Aqua, followed by a line
cook role at Betelnut and then the sous chef title—and eventually, executive chef title—at
Ramblas Tapas Bar. After staging at the three-Michelin- starred RyuGin in Tokyo in 2011,
Ibrahim joined Commis, the restaurant from chef James Syhabout until 2012. She also worked at the ow three-Michelin- starred Manresa, rising from a stage position to sous chef by 2015.
The internationally experienced chef was eventually tapped to run Aziamendi in
Thailand and co-run the Aziamendi88 pop-up at the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for Eneko Atxa of Azurmendi in Bibao, Spain. Ibrahim also spoke at the 2015 Watermark Conference for Women and the 2016 MAD5 Culinary Symposium.
After a 6-month sabbatical spent sampling cuisine and culture throughout 15 countries, Ibrahim felt drawn back to the California coast. Instantly attracted to the Harbor House Inn’s unique location, she took on her current role as Executive Chef in 2017.
